I have been writing since I was in my early teens, many, many, many years ago. I have tried many different styles of writing: free verse, prose, rhyming schemes, limericks, haiku, and I've also written many short stories from my life. For me writing is cathartic, fun, and quite often it is such a very strong urge to create something when my muse will not leave me alone. Gene Fowler once wrote, "Writing is easy; all you do is sit staring at a blank sheet of paper until the drops of blood form on your forehead." I also began collecting quotes when I was in my teens and I now have 2 volumes of my commonplace book. A commonplace book is somebody's personal collection of inspiring quotes, or your own writings, whatever you want to jot down and keep. My commonplace books are like a time machine of my life: by collecting quotes about things that piqued my interest at that time or inspired me or made me laugh, I can then go through my commonplace books and remember some of my history just by reading the many things I jotted down at that time. I have always adored great authors and excellent writing, no matter in what form it may take.
