All I Gained

Ask me what I know of loss,

And I will tell you all I've gained.

The knowledge and wisdom that I possess

Was not easily obtained.

The empathy that I feel for all,

Envelops everything that is me.

The anguish endured taught the lessons,

And every perspective I learned to see.

Logic and sound reasoning

Bind the foundations of common sense.

'Tis not a flower found in most gardens.

Which is why these people take such offense.
