Always Right Back To You

It hurts so much to know you're gone,
So some nights I stay up until the break of dawn.
Deep deep down, I know this is right.
When the golden sun hits the hills so bright.
It feels so selfish to want you back,
Just knowing you're in a better place makes my heart crack.
The comfort you showed me with your eyes,
spoke of a love that never dies.

You'd comfort me when I was sad,
And listen to me when I was mad.
Now I just sit in silence here,
I've cried so much that I'm out of tears.
I always knew this day would come,
But that doesn't make me feel less numb.
I hope doggy heaven treats you well,
For that is the place that you will dwell,
Until the day comes for me to see,
You running around so wild and free.
Just know one day when my time is through,
I'll find my way right back to you.
