Anvil of Reality
Yesterday my dog Duke and I took a walk in the park.
It's nothing special, we just do it before dark.
But this time we walked over to the new church,
which was built not too long ago.
While Duke did his thing in the bushes in the snow,
I looked upward to the churches roof as if to see a show.
What I saw came crashing in to mind to comprehend.
An anvil of reality, literally staring back at me I couldn't fend!
Surveillance cameras looking and watching every move made.
Boom ! An anvil of reality hit me in my heart like a knife blade!
This is the reality in our quagmire of life we all must wade.
Even churches are not safe, all of our souls are now betrayed!
That image haunted me all through my restless night of sleep.
Our values that don't matter are thrown on to the dung heap.
We talk about trust and love for our fellow man in this land.
Churches have surveillance cameras, and no helping hands!
Shame on you!
