ascent
I am furious at who I have been
knowing who I was before
aware of what lay beneath
a burden of fear
and of sorrow
seeing now, in this present
how much I can still do
how much more
there is to come
how much further
there is yet to go
and for the first time
in half a life
I can see
the horizon
and as it nears
as the sun ascends
I embrace its warmth
knowing who I was before
aware of what lay beneath
a burden of fear
and of sorrow
seeing now, in this present
how much I can still do
how much more
there is to come
how much further
there is yet to go
and for the first time
in half a life
I can see
the horizon
and as it nears
as the sun ascends
I embrace its warmth
