Better things we should strive for
Sometimes we are so busy
with our work and daily strife
that we are prone to overlook
the better things in life
we worry about money
and the power that it brings
the very latest luxuries
and shiny sparkling blings
while we’re gathering jewelry
fancy furs and voluptuous cars
our eyes ignore the golden sun
the moonlight and the stars
the fragrant air where flowers fair
gazing at the sky
a friendly smile, gentle words
the softness of a sigh
we think about all the pleasures
we may purchase in a store
disregarding all the better things
we should be living for.
