Cotton Balls

A cotton ball is
Pressed up against my wound
Where blood was spilling from
A few minutes prior.
Extinguishing the fire
That had once burned
So badly that
My head had hurt
And my lungs
Had heaved.
But still I only
Breathed in wisps
As the passion that pulsed
Throughout my veins
Overflowed onto the green.
And when the people saw
That blood was rising around my feet
They gathered round
To mask the damage
Placing bandages
All around
But the blood still ran
Cause no mark was found
Just before it was too late
I had finally figured it out
I took a cotton ball
And pressed it against
My own mouth
And all the pain
And blood had stopped
But my fire, it had burnt out.
