Dad, Why Did You Have To Go?
Dad, why did you have to leave so soon? The world feels dim without your light;
So many words left unspoken,
And dreams we’d share beneath the moon.
Three years have passed since you departed,
Each day a clock that ticks too slow.
I search for signs of love imparted—
In every breeze and gentle snow.
Your laughter echoes in my mind,
A melody I can’t forget.
What joy awaits if time was kind—
But here I stand with deep regret.
So many moments still to be shared,
Each story full of warmth and grace;
With every smile I feel impaired—
Longing for your familiar face.
Yet in the quiet of each night,
When shadows stretch across my heart,
I find you there within my sight:
In memories where we won’t part.
Through trials faced and tears I've shed,
You guide me on from realms unknown;
Though miles apart by fate's cruel thread,
Your spirit lives—a love well grown.
And as the seasons softly change,
Though days grow dark and nights are long,
I'll carry forth what’s sweet yet strange—
The strength you've given makes me strong.
Forever in this heart you'll stay,
My compass through both storm and sun.
Dear Dad, though life takes loved ones away,
Our bond remains—a race not run.
When next we meet beyond all pain,
With laughter rich like summer rain,
We'll share our tales once more again—
Until then know I'll keep you near:
In whispered winds—you'll always hear.
