Daily Routines
Sitting alone, slumped in his throne
the king dreams about something unknown
bored with his life, and tired of his wife
he orders a servant to bring him a knife
cutting his bread, with dreams in his head
wondering if he'd be better off dead
daily routines, like small guillotines
chopping away at his life every day
and day after day, the trumpets will play
and the red carpet leads every step of the way
it's time for a change, time for some strange
it's time for his life to be not so arranged
so later that night, he plans for his flight
he knows that his timing must be just right
with the queen fast asleep, he starts to creep
and as he exits the castle he begins to weep
but as he crosses a hill, he feels a chill
which grows into something more like a thrill
and as he rests by a tree, he knows that he's free
he shouts "NO MORE TRUMPETS OR RED CARPETS FOR ME"
