Depression

It comes creeping on inside,
There is no place to hide,
Thoughts of pain,
Tears like rain never refrain.

Ceaseless thoughts of suicide,
Are like self-inflected genocide,
Friends and family drift away,
Replaced by endless suffering.

As eternal day turns to nocturnal night,
My internal thoughts turn to hate and fright,
Yet when I turn you still remain,
Guiding me through myself imposed misery.

For without you I could not be,
Because you help me to be me,
You chase away the suffering inside my mind,
Like a gilded night fresh from a fight,
You make me feel safe in the night.
