Divinity

Incense rolled off the tongue of brazen dragons
It smelled of the earth…
It followed me inside echoing pillars, and rays of the suns,
Where a single whisper held its worth
It brought about harmonies chiming the walls
But the firm humming of a priest stayed of a single voice,
It reverberated into the ears of those in shawls
And there in their minds it echoed instead… no other noise,
People praying upon pillows in peace…not people at all really, to be apprised
But souls of people,
Souls that ascended as they closed their eyes,
Away with the incense to the top of the steeple,
Scaling about the scaled tiles and some-
Whispering secrets to the golden statues,
Discovering but a piece of omnipotent freedom
A power none would ever refuse.
The priest stood silent
Their souls bounced back to them like echo’s.
