Down in the Cellar

Down in the Cellar, that was my hell
everyone said she was loving but I couldn't tell
Not aloud in the house til I heard the dinner bell
or I'd go Down in the Cellar where I couldn't bail.
In others eyes, she was swell
they couldn't see past her deceiving spell.

If a twister was coming, you could hear it roar
taking shelter I wasn't for
Down in the Cellar, that was my storm
She'd put me down there and close the door
It was resentment in a motherly form
I had a mother that was mean to the core

Down in the Cellar on the cement floor
I spent many hours wondering why I was born
When she passed it was hard to mourn
I wasn't happy, but I wasn't torn
Because Down in the Cellar
I'd go No more!!

This is one of my favorite poems I have wrote. I feel like I could just feel my grandmothers pain as I wrote it. It merged from the pain of loosing her I think and Everytime I read it I feel it..
