Down to the Ground
Weather beaten down to the ground
Last place to find lost dreams.
Take what is left and tell the mission man:
It's all over.
No more gilding the lily or
Fanciful fairies, dreaming of romantic overtures,
That don't exist.
Where did all these ephemeral pleasures go?
Back to childhood
Behind gossamer veils lying lifeless
In forgotten toyboxes.
Last place to find lost dreams.
Take what is left and tell the mission man:
It's all over.
No more gilding the lily or
Fanciful fairies, dreaming of romantic overtures,
That don't exist.
Where did all these ephemeral pleasures go?
Back to childhood
Behind gossamer veils lying lifeless
In forgotten toyboxes.
