Generations

By Denita

People fighting wars all around me, a battle of wills, two people that disagree.
Violence fosters deep in the soul leaving no room for love to grow.
A child crying from his mother's pain, ages and finds himself going insane.
Society on the brink of destruction, our young are breeding greed and corruption.
Given to us by the generations before. This battle with self and ongoing war.
There must be an outlet for our pain, other than bullets falling like rain.
The one's to make the change are generations ahead when all of our teachers are finally dead.
Our children will rebuild this world brand new, and color the sky the deepest shade of blue.
Happiness will be a place called earth, And every child will know how much they're worth.

This Poems Story

I wrote this in Phoenix, Arizona in 1996. It was inspired by my nephews, they were real young but aI knew they were meant to change a piece of the world for the better. They are in their 30s now and have had a positive impact on so many people.
