Greynolds*

A castle mound, rolling down it’s grassy side,
climbing back up for another dizzying ride.
cowboys and indians - running around the fort,
frisbees are flying, balls are being caught.
the BBQ’s are a blazing, and the smells consumed the air
with picnic goers lazing on stretched out blankets there.
a trek through the mangrove jungle, i dug for lost treasure,
or i would play hide and seek, this is what i remember.

For this is where i went to play
so long ago when hippies came
to sing their songs along the banks of the lake,
while paddle boats churned and snow cones were made.
for this is the place where i grew up
a childhood adventure,
Greynolds park.

This Poems Story

This will probably only mean something to those who lived here in Miami in the 60\'s and 70\'s. The park is still there. The poem was written from the aspect of myself when i was a kid. In high school, it was the place to be on the weekend if we didn\'t go to the beach. The picture is the park. BTW for all you raters.
