I Am Lost

I am lost
And I am floating down a river
Where the cold water
Bites my skin
And the rushing water
Crashes against my feet
And I rush past people with outstretched arms,
As everything blurs together.

The people I pass are holding out their hands
Palms facing upward
As if to offer help,
But I can't reach them.
And they stretch their arms further
But I'm carried away,
Down the stream,
My voice lost in the sound of rushing water.
