I used to be a person.

I used to be a person, doing things like people do
I used to be a person, I could have been you
But you would have done it better, you wouldn’t have flailed
You would have stayed a person but it was me, and I failed
If I could do it over I would choose to stay a person
but I’m stuck with being the thing that undid you
