In Spite
Now Lord, I know that I don't visit your house on Sunday, and yes, sometimes I do complain about working on Monday.
I know you've seen me drink a few, and I know you've heard me say a cuss word or two, but if there is one thing you know about me, a perfect person I don't pretend to be.
Although it may not always show, I do love and believe in you. Thank you for the hard times that you've gotten me through, for the lessons you've taught me for the things I do.
For two children so precious and sweet I thank you. Lord those kids do not always act right, but you know dear Lord I love them in spite. Lord just like my children, we are all yours and we don't always act right, but I thank you dear Lord for loving us in spite.
This Poems Story
Years ago I drank on a daily basis. I had a good heart and good intentions but the drink always got in the way. Once I started I could not stop. I was always like a child getting into trouble. I loved God but I didn't know how to show it. I believe we are all constantly learning and growing up. Much of my writing is what I call conversations with God on paper. I'm grateful that he is always listening. I am now 8 yes sober and I know God is happy about that. I enjoy church today and I can honestly say I don't complain about working on Monday anymore. Much as changed about me since I wrote this one.
