Lessons Learned

When I was in my teens,

never thought I’d live to see twenty-one.

Die young and make a beautiful corpse,

was my suicide life’s motto.

In my twenty’s the urge to find

someone to share my life with.

I believed in the American dream.

Wild oats and distant lands called to me.

At thirty I started thinking I’m living

longer than I thought possible.

Thoughts of raising a family,

then my wake up call with the big “C”.

At forty the old drive was still there.

I learned to enjoy what our Creator

gave to me everyday of my life.

Another wake up call with the big “C”.

Now I’m beyond fifty taking better

care of myself, never thought I’d make it.

I live my life like borrowed time.

Each day is a blessing, so sublime.

To sum up what it took fifty plus years

for me to learn……… We are on this

Earth to enjoy life, learn to let go of your strife.

Live each day to the fullest, but live to see another.
