Letting go with love
loved him deep, I loved him true,
But love alone would never do.
I saw the cracks, the silent ache,
The weight my presence seemed to make.
He smiled, but not the way he should—
A smile that said, “I wish I could.”
And in that glance, I came to see
The kindest thing was setting free.
Not every love is meant to stay,
Some bloom, then slowly drift away.
I held his heart, but not too tight,
And let it go to find the light.
For I was fire, fierce and wild,
He needed calm, the ocean’s child.
So with a kiss, I loosed my grip,
Love doesn’t cling—it learns to slip.
And though it broke my soul in two,
I let him go, so he could choose
A softer path, a gentler fate—
The one I knew I couldn’t create.
