Life on the Hill

Oh, Tung Hill
where we wake up every morning
to “coffee time with Trudy“
and start our day anew.

Where we take our
lap around the yard
to admire our handiwork
and see how it has grown.

Where the rabbits and the squirrels
beat us to the garden
and the cardinals and hummingbirds
entertain us all day long.

Where we watch the hawks circle above
hoping to see them catch their prey.
Where we feed the welfare birds
and watch them strew their food.

Oh, Tung Hill
where we buried two dogs
And cried over their graves
And reminisce about their lives.

Where we wave to our neighbors;
always friendly -
but they don’t know us
and we don’t know them.

Where we toil
day and night
but our work is never done
so we plan tomorrow’s project.

Where we chat about our day
and plan for our future.
Where we sit and drink our wine
and enjoy our every meal.

Oh, Tung Hill
our sanctuary
our peace
our Home.
