Life\'s adversity
Bushy canopy flourishes
in the parks where people play
swinging from branches,
hiding in the shade
from all the heat and woes
that life might bring each day
with time there comes a change
emotions of red, yellow, green, and brown
become exposed as we struggle
flailing life keeps us down
but, we can choose a different path
and see the spectrum on the ground.
emptiness then fills our head
reaching up with barren hands
nothing to help us manage
the chill of night at our feet
gripping firmly to earth’s foundation
but eventually thinking positive
life’s light shows its hue
melting our problems
as we stood sturdy and strong
our posture standing true
weathering through adversity
we bloom fresh and spry again
as long as we keep a firm hold on life,
like trees that survive each season.
in the parks where people play
swinging from branches,
hiding in the shade
from all the heat and woes
that life might bring each day
with time there comes a change
emotions of red, yellow, green, and brown
become exposed as we struggle
flailing life keeps us down

like trees that survive each season.
