Listen
Can you hear tweeting Love Birds songs
or croaking summons of midnight frogs
buzzing wings of the humble bees
as they collect spores from flowering weeds
whispering voices of the whirlwind’s plea
the rustling leaves in the evening trees
chirping crickets in the moonless breeze
to the crashing caresses of the foaming sea
gentle babbling of a shallow creek
crawling caterpillar, a moth breaking free
hovering of a hummingbird’s flapping wings
can you hear the things you cannot see?
Just close your eyes and give an ear
what sounds will your imagination hear?
the rising sun to the seagulls call
the morning flower that opens to all
sit and listen to the gentle rain as it falls
it may convey something your heart might recall,
hear the wind, listen to it blow
it might reveal the self that you didn’t know
mysteries of life and what it could mean
life is more than what you can see.
