Listen

Some of us have forgotten how to listen
And give thanks for our many blessings.
Take a step outside and close your eyes,
Listen to the whispering of the wind,
Bringing tales from far off lands.
Hear the pulse of the earth,
Ever bearing the burden of our weight.
Listen to the melody of the forest,
And ponder the many secrets she holds.
Now take a deep breath and give thanks.
Be thankful for the trees,
Giving us the air that we breath,
Be thankful for the wind,
Bringing pollen and cool breezes.
Be thankful for the earth,
That bears our fruit from her womb.
Be thankful for the rain,
For without it we would shrivel.
When we remember these things,
We find we are rich.
It is only when you forget,
That you feel you are poor.
Take a second to reconnect,
With our mother, the earth.
And remember to say thanks,
For the many blessings she shares.
