Lover, I should’ve held on

The words came easy, like they never left,
like six months was nothing, like I never wept.
your name on my screen, suddenly I’m there-
back in ur arms, back in your air.

Nostalgia hit like a summer storm,
every touch ,every whisper, every promise once sworn.
Your laugh felt the same, soft as before,
but I know what I lost, I know what I tore.

I spoke like a friend, but still loved like a fool,
still drowning in dreams, breaking out rules.
Regret is a ghost that sleeps in my bed,
it sings me your name, fills me with dread.

I should’ve fought through the rain,
Held on through the weight and the pain.
I let you slip through, the distance grew wide,
all I have left is the love left inside.

So tell me, do echoes ever return?
Do bridges still stand when edges have burned?
Or and I dreaming, lost in the past,
holding onto a love that was never mean to last..

So relatable! A heart traumatized by emotions and moments that come to visit from time to time. PLD! Post Love Decease a love illness of memories kept deep inside.
