Luna Star
Nubian princess with a flamingo’s head crownmulti-colored edged feathers draped all around
Egyptian rainbow head dress on her shoulders hangs down.
goddess of the moon and of the night
stars dare not question her quiet might
her brow illuminates the darkness within her sight.
controlling the bright side glowing moon
accenting the colors of cyan and blue
the freckled stars on her cheeks will croon
as Luna God enters her vast celestial room
sprinkling her star dust across sky’s dark dune
beauty of the night never leaving too soon.
her silhouette backdrop against the cosmos sky
her beauty, the moon, creeping slowly by
holding on to her control of the darken tides.
eventually she surrenders her hold on the night
to Helios’ chariot that pulls in the light;
the star that ignites her morning plight.
Apollo’s new day enters so bright
securing the demise she can never fight
her fading distance in the canopy’s hight
camouflaged beyond where she’s barely seen
still orbiting the globe as only one side gleams
returning in full at her monthly scene,
reminding humanity of her spirit serene.
