Memory Lane

Why am I up so late never getting sleep
Always trying to turn these nightmares into dreams

I think of you before I sleep
But when I wake
you're nowhere to be seen
It's like "only in your dreams" is a real life fantasy.

Our "one last trip" memories keep haunting me
Slipping through the cracks of my tired eyes

My eyes are burning
My heart set a blaze
When I'm missing you, I smile
All because of a simple gaze.

Seeing you smile one more time
Is the only thing keeping me sane
Hearing your laughter in my dreams is what keeps me wanting to go back down memory lane.

I smile in my sleep,
Because you looked my way
And I had to let you see
That our eyes met once again.

But this time around,
I am feeling a bit more free.
