Night Terrors
Half the time
There's nothing you can do
From the walls of the mind
They start to break through
The beasts they hide
In crevices so deep
They only come out
When you're fast asleep
The deeper you fall
The stronger their grasp
They flood in from the darkness
Both future and past
A cold sweat accumulates
From the brow of your head
The cold chill on your skin
As you're shocked from your bed
The heart is still pounding
As you wait for relief
Sitting up in the shadows
And praying for peace
There's nothing you can do
From the walls of the mind
They start to break through
The beasts they hide
In crevices so deep
They only come out
When you're fast asleep
The deeper you fall
The stronger their grasp
They flood in from the darkness
Both future and past
A cold sweat accumulates
From the brow of your head
The cold chill on your skin
As you're shocked from your bed
The heart is still pounding
As you wait for relief
Sitting up in the shadows
And praying for peace

Help Ignite The Flame

You describe night terrors quite well in poetic form. Imagery is very strong. I very much like the final line. Very well done.
