Over Time
I used to peer at the stars, so bright and distant
I used to listen to the leaves falling from the trees
I used to smell the fresh rains upon newly cut grass
I used to play in the fields, the warm sun caressing my soul
But now the days pass by with a swiftness
Nothing in the sky as the days pass quickly by
Summer turns into fall in complete silence
Smells have all but vanished as the days draw to an end
We may feel within our age we have reached a broader view
But we may find that our time has been unwisely used
Not seeing the beauty given to us within this great sphere
Focused on the gloom instead of the things that bring good cheer
