Replaceable
You were always scared that I would replace you,
Afraid that I would find a new best friend
And I wouldn't need you anymore.
I'd always reassure you that I never would.
I'd never replace you.
I'd never find another best friend.
I didn't want a different best friend.
I promised that I'd always need you
And I wasn't going anywhere.
So here I am, as I promised.
I'm sitting alone in my room,
A tear forming in my eye.
I'm waiting and waiting and waiting,
Waiting for my best friend in the whole world
To come back.
You're out with other people, having lots of fun.
I wonder if you'll eventually call one of them
Your best friend.
But I promised, and it was never a lie.
You are my best friend.
You will always be my best friend.
I won't replace you.
I won't ever find another one.
I don't want a different one.
I won't even look for one.
I'll always need you--I need you right now.
I'm not going anywhere. I'll wait.
I don't know how long I'll sit here
Or if you'll ever come back.
If you ever do, at least I kept my promise--
I kept every single one.
You were the one that was scared,
But I guess it should have been me.
I made sure you always knew
You are irreplaceable.
I just never realized
I would be that easy to replace.
