Shooting stars

Watching footprints fill with sea foam and fire,
From a dying sun,
The last of daybreak, awake, slowly breaking with the waves,

Then watch …
The whole…
sky …
collapse…

to a single red tripwire,

so dense from falling on itself that diamonds begin to pepper the swirled hues,

Brave sailboats go to grab them, then,
The boats disappear…. A mirror,

The sky, the sea, the night

Shattered in slow motion,

By a light,
To the east, a scream to the west,
another light,then another

Incinerating the cold water like sparklers in the dark,

Heads turning,
Hands begin
Interlacing, tracing the new sky ,
Reaching towards beasts and heroes,
Waiting for wishes to fall from the heavens
Into their ordinary hands,

Heads looking up, resting on soil,
rich with more than mineral,
Rich with war , and triumph, somebody’s great great grandma
Who dreamed of becoming an astronaut,
A little girls buried doll
hiding beneath layers of dirt,
Next to a tattered flag from her country
Still waving,

Heads resting
on Blood, and Love, and ancient history lessons,
disintegrated into the
earth, the birth of minds
somewhere much further now,
Somewhere, where there hands reach out,

Desperate for miracles in the dark.
