Sinking Ship

To let yourself down is the hardest of loss
The burden you take is a terrible cost
Your life has forced you to look to yourself
But when you are weak you’re left with this hell
Who am I if I can’t hold my own
What am I if I betray my throne
This fortress I’ve built to protect myself
Is weak and leaking with worries and doubt
Who do I turn to if I cannot trust
Will I be left with damage and rust
How can I break the walls that I’ve built
Will my strength by weakened and fill me with guilt
I have been all I should ever need
But now my path’s faulted entangled in weeds
My mind a stranger I’m uncomfortable with
My life adrift on a sinking ship
