St. Lucy
“LUCY”Her name was Lucy and she was beautiful to behold, a complexion as clear as the Christmas snow
Her eyes were like crystals white as can be, all townsmen and noble men get down on one knee
But her vow to God was so dear and true, not one fellow on earth could ever seduce
Her desire was wisdom, love, and piety, the grace of the Lord safeguarded her virginity
Her family and friends would have loved to see, Lucy find a young rich man and get married
But her heart and soul could never deny, her promise to the Mighty King in the sky
Her love for the less fortunate was oh so pure her relics and stories would later cure
A young man came along with a ring to show, all Lucy could say was not yes but “no”
He took her rejection to heart and said, “I will make her pay for what she did.”
His plans seemed whispered by a demon, they were saturated with hate and retaliation
He falsely blamed her for being in prostitution, but Lucy would not take shame as a solution
They ordered to bring wood and light a fire to kill, but by the hand of God no blood had spilled
The man had asked her once again to take the blame and let him in
But her heart would not budge from its place, she was finally coming to the end of her race
Her soul was made ready for her big award, the executioner had taken her life by a sword
Lucy did not cave and give in to sin, she died a loyal and faithful virgin
Her name was Lucy and she was beautiful to behold, the Prince of Peace placed on her head a crown of gold
Because of her love and devoutness to the King, her award was much greater than a diamond ring
