Switch

As I step off the bus
all my worldly possessions in one hand.
Starting all over again
in a place I once called home.
The nightmare long behind me
Miles away from the imposter I once knew.
But it’s memory still haunts me
till I write it down.
And I have gave it all
to stay with you.
But as the night goes black
the shadows grew.
Now I can’t recognize your face anymore.
What was all that for?
All the lies,
all the acting,
just to say you can?
I woke up on the beach again,
Listening to the waves crashing down.
I can’t remember what I did last night,
But I’m sure he can.
I can still taste the drinks
we had.
Once again I grab my bag,
and wander away.
Will I ever trust again?
I told my mom I don’t believe in love.
What will come of me?
As I roam around.
Drifting like the log we found,
So many years ago.
All because I wouldn’t play your games.
I still remember the moment you switched.
Maybe this is all I will ever be.
Maybe someday you’ll stop pretending,
And show someone who you really are.
That’s the only way to find
everlasting love.
