Thank the Gods

Hands folded, eyes closed, I'm thanking my God for you
Not just my God, that's not fair, so I'm thanking yours too
I'm hoping that they are listening, and can see this is good for me
That this isn't another trick or lesson to be learned, you see
I've been let down and fooled and tried, all for nothing before
Nothing would hurt like this though, if this was just a trick door
So I thank them for you now, and tomorrow I will do the same thing
Maybe showing gratitude, will make this what it seems
It seems as though you're perfect, like you were carved to fit me
Like those gods I thanked earlier used me to make you, for me
My luck has never been the greatest, I usually don't keep good things
So I thank them for you today, in hope's they won't take you from me
I've never been a fighter, or someone to expect too much
I rarely get my hopes up and by very few I've been truly loved
I don't ask for much and I keep my head down, usually that's the case
But I will fight my way into hell to keep this in a real place
As hard as it can become and on those days we seem to fall apart;
I'll continue thanking your God for you, and I'll thank the God in my heart

When you have something good, gratitude is how you keep it.
