The Day We Make Love
The day we make love,
Will be a day like none other -
The earth may crack open,
Swallowing us each asunder.
The day you take my hand,
Perhaps beneath Heaven's protest,
The sun may stop shining,
Babes each cling their mom's breast.
The world may stop spinning,
On that fateful day -
Angels' song, harps and horn,
Each ceasing their play.
Much more likely I think though,
When you finally say "yes" -
As we draw towards each other,
Feeling each exhaled breath.
The skies will turn gray,
Rains and winds start to stir,
As your sleeve playfully falls
Gently off one shoulder.
Our first touch brings goosebumps,
On your neck I caress.
Soft kisses exchanged,
As we slowly undress.
Clocks each ticking faster now,
Earth turns faster too -
Rainstorms deluge and then drain,
By the time we are through.
As we lie there together,
In new lover's embrace,
The sky slowly clears -
A rainbow forms in its place.
So I say to you, darling,
Fear not causing harm.
Let loose inhibition,
And come take my arm.
Will be a day like none other -
The earth may crack open,
Swallowing us each asunder.
The day you take my hand,
Perhaps beneath Heaven's protest,
The sun may stop shining,
Babes each cling their mom's breast.
The world may stop spinning,
On that fateful day -
Angels' song, harps and horn,
Each ceasing their play.
Much more likely I think though,
When you finally say "yes" -
As we draw towards each other,
Feeling each exhaled breath.
The skies will turn gray,
Rains and winds start to stir,
As your sleeve playfully falls
Gently off one shoulder.
Our first touch brings goosebumps,
On your neck I caress.
Soft kisses exchanged,
As we slowly undress.
Clocks each ticking faster now,
Earth turns faster too -
Rainstorms deluge and then drain,
By the time we are through.
As we lie there together,
In new lover's embrace,
The sky slowly clears -
A rainbow forms in its place.
So I say to you, darling,
Fear not causing harm.
Let loose inhibition,
And come take my arm.
