The Extinct Heart

The Extinct Heart

The earth holds water to drink
But they say too much will kill you,
The heart holds a beat to help us feel
I thought too much would kill you,
But seeing it in front of me,
Held in the hands of another
Bloody and raw like wild game,
I saw no pulse at all
