The Friendship Experiment

By Melmond

I am the moth,
You are the flame,
Like the Phoenix I rise,
Then consumed once again.

I swear you're a bit crazy,
When you bite off my head.
Your bad day, now mine too,
My heart sinks like lead.

Next day I ignore you,
As best that I can,
No apology comes, yet
Your smile melts me again.

So torn I've become -
Which path, Destiny?
I've prayed for our friendship,
And prayed too to be free.

So instead now, when I pray,
My request is but one -
"Please be with her always",
And, "May Thy will be done."

I've tried being your friend,
Though I once wanted more.
I'd still be the truest friend
You could ever ask for.
