THE FURIOUS PLAGUE

I've not come to show us the pain to make us weep, but to wake us up as the cock crows in the morning.

Can't you see? The plague regards no man; fat or slim, black or white.

Our streets are now empty like a used barrel, silent like the graveyard.
Humanity is chased by a strange plague, invisible to the naked eye.

"Vanity upon vanity" that is the word of a great Writer.
Why should man be cruel to another? We all have one thing in common.... Death!

Like a male Lion in the den, I roar in confusion.
What has befallen humanity?
Some say it's the act of the great actors in the quest for power, others say it's a recompense for sin.

COVID 19, the unwelcome visitor!
Why have you separated us from our loved ones?
No hugs, no handshakes.
We are isolated from others like orphans in Nigeria.
When would this end?

You chase all humans indoor while hunger flogs us like the Biafran soldiers.
Does our government care?
The palliatives they give are magnified in the television.
The few that came, how many got taste of it?

Oh humanity! When would love reign?
