The Mysterious Flood

The lake had flooded, and water gushed across the road, faster than the whitewater rapids of the Colorado River. I did not see this until I arrived at the large, tranquil puddle just a few feet behind. My two front tires had entered the puddle with a splash before I noticed the torrent right in front of my eyes. I had a split second to decide, “Do I turn around or drive through?” I started to think I should turn around, but before I could finish that thought, my internal voice said “No, drive through.” I drove through, knowing it was a bad decision and my car was immediately submerged. I was able to escape through the window and swim back to the surface. I looked around, prepared to help anyone else trapped in their vehicles or drowning as the current pulled them away. To my surprise though, many people were swimming in the water by choice, seemingly enjoying themselves. Just as I started trying to figure out what was going on, my alarm clock screamed “This is all just a dream!”
