The Rain

Rain drops on my roof,
Tears on my face,
Not because the rain
Makes me sad,
But reminds me of
Times past we listened
Together. Rain falling, wind blowing,
Gentle thunder, a deep rumble
In the distance both comforting
And filled with melancholia,
Which wraps around you
In an empty embrace.
Teardrops on my roof
Overflowing swollen gutters
Racing down the windowpanes
Blurring the scene beyond
Into squiggly lines and fog
Leaving the watcher unable to
Speak past the clogged and
Flooded downspouts.
Tears dry, rain stops,
cloud's part cleansing the
sky, mind, heart and spirit.
Peace descends once again,
For a short time,
Awaiting the next front to arrive.
