Red and God
This is the tale
Of the woman in red
Her face as pale as snow
Her soul in the hands of the dead.
“Oh life!” She asks thee
With pleas of “Why me?”
The victim stands
Loaded with demands.
“Oh Lord!” She says
“What humour you have
for you’ve cloaked me in beauty
and left my soul to be sad.”
“Do you even exist?
You must hear my pleas!
How many times,
must I fall to my knees?”
"The weight of the world
doesn’t breed compassion-
Instead cynicism and hostility
are ignited with passion.
Stop looking for answers
in the light!
Stop denying your darkness
As a means to end the fight."
“But Lord what is this humour,
that you so childishly possess?
Did you think this outer beauty
would alleviate my inner distress?”
"Shut your mouth
Don’t you see
You’ve become a monster-
Selfish as can be.
Silence your voice
Open your ears
What do you know?
A life guided by fears……
Then you say you’re unhappy
That life isn’t enough
Walls go up
Let them know you’re so tough.
But tough is not made
of anger and hate
Cursing the world
Sealing your fate.
That is not tough
That is in fact, weak
Succumbing to circumstance
Are you really just meat?
Searching for what you want
Searching for what you need
Find the paradox
And you’ll surely be freed."
Oh lady in red
Just rest your head
She leaves this world
With a mouth full of lead.
Of the woman in red
Her face as pale as snow
Her soul in the hands of the dead.
“Oh life!” She asks thee
With pleas of “Why me?”
The victim stands
Loaded with demands.

This Poems Story
This poem is part of a collection called The Woman in Red. The woman in red is a person who has been through a lot in life and is really struggling to make it out of the dark. Growing up in the foster care system I had a lot of issues in my younger years and the lady in red is a metaphor for what might have happened to me if i didn\'t grow, heal and face my truth. Ultimately the woman in red collection is a metaphor for mental health issues and the struggles one may go through dealing with them. Its dark but this collection helped me through a lot of healing.
