Things My Momma Told Me

Momma raised me with a firm hand.
"Aim high child and take your stand."
"When life's hard don't walk away."
"Remember, I'm here everyday."
"I'll protect you the best I can until you are old enough to take your stand."
"There's a bond between you and I."
"I'll protect you until the day I die."
"Listen to the words I say because you'll be alone when I pass away."
Yet, I tearfully recall.
I remember the good old days of time I lost in life's foggy maze.
The words she spoke has come to pass. The lessons now seem to last.
I'm old enough to stand alone and make decisions that are my own.
I never knew the words of the wise man but now I see the many, many things my momma told me.
