To Heal a God

Helios he is named after
Misfortune had weathered him
‘Roma? Pasta?’, he inquires
He gazed into her eyes
Forgetting his purpose
Taking her in: tiny feet and severe eyes
Desperation suffocates as he
Must make the connection.

Relent she will not
No eye contact, no smile
Bugger off is her intent
His card is left behind

Tranquility of the river's edge
Sat the mortal and ‘God’ to dine
Speaking in their own languages
His affliction earlier explained:
Gazing into her eyes, made him shine
Again.

The language of Love transpired
To make a mere mortal powerful,
To heal a God
On his chariot of Sun will
He ride at dawn
For hope was born.

Happily she did heal
For this Goddess
Worshiped the Sun daily.
