Transition

I am still often up longer than long nights should last,
my story in rhyme the reason, so much unlike the past.
Unimaginable rewards lie at the end of each new task,
especially now that I'd remember, should someone ask.

Fog lived in my mind, it woke the sun almost every day,
as thick as pea soup if the right drugs were in play.
An altered mind and its effects would come to an end.
As the fog began clearing my heart started to mend.

The fog morphed quickly into thin clouds in the sky
My healing heart knew that even dark ones pass by.
Open wounds that closed took with them their pain.
My heart prays silently, I'll not let it feel that again.
