Trees behind our house

A grassy enclosure behind our new house
there was a developed fruit tree sprouting

two others full of only leaves we browsed
checking around two saplings were found
our curiosity about them was greatly aroused.
red green and yellow ripe mangos asleep on the ground
randomly scattered in the shade all around
plenty more stretching, bending branches down.
the other trees holding secrets of what they abound.

when the season came the trees bared their name
Avocados and Kumquats are the fruit’s that came
we took in our bounty which took most of the day,
two saplings grew but not yet showed their claim.

quite a few seasons passed our way
with so much brimming, we gave most away.
the saplings had been expanding each day
as they became adults, what would they say?

eventually one tree exhibited an orangey ball
we didn’t know what fruit it was called
taking a taste i was throughly enthralled
"tangerines" i yelled as i jumped for joy.

the other tree looked more like a bush
green rhined golf balls, extremely plush
plucking one off a sturdy branch, roughly peeling, it gushed
the juice i tasted, was key lime i trust.

five trees now engrossed our backyard
playing tag had become entirely marred
consuming all our fruit became extremely hard
sharing them all made us neighborhood stars.

This Poems Story

This is a true story. Every season when they bloomed we had to give away a lot to our neighbors or they would either rot on the ground or the insects and birds would get to them first.
