What is and What's Not

It’s not the narrows or surrounding towers
It’s not the sidewalks or streets filled with marrow
It’s not the dreams of villainy or great power
It’s not the stealer of sleep in which to cower

It’s not the knowledge of mortality that frights
It’s not the deepness of dark shadows in the night
It’s not the death of our enemy that brings delight
It’s not the fear of what’s next, could be or might

Tis the alley ways and the vastness of their height
Tis the loss of natural affection to take a life
Tis the action to take power in which there is no right
Tis the cause of worry when your sleep is in flight

Tis the reason for our existence that causes our mind to sour
Tis the thoughts of what lies in the darkness in that hour
Tis the idea that the affliction is over, nothing left to scour
Tis the reality of what is and what’s not that devours
