What It Cost To Be Free

As the crisp winter air bites out at me,
I watch our proud symbol of Liberty.
In utter defiance of wind, for all to see,
it reminds me of what it cost to be free!

Million's of men, their blood given devotedly.
Soldiers wounded, and dying for our Liberty!
That's the crimson red stripes of Old Glory.
It reminds me of what it cost to be free!

Men at Valley Forge, long to be warm and free.
Suffering frost-bite, in the blizzard's insanity.
The white stripes which defiantly fly proudly on Old Glory!
Winter campaigns remind me of what it cost to be free!

In every ocean and every sea, is the Blue U.S. Navy!
Sailors wounded and dying, for our rights of Liberty!
Waves rolling blue, unknown graves buried at sea.
It is a constant reminder of the cost to be free!

The white stars represent the homelands to me.
Everyday we live a life, that is a blessing to see.
We are safe to live and enjoy our life of Liberty.
So may Old Glory forever wave on for you and me!

What it cost to be free....a lot of people need to think about this...and what the American Flag truly represents....it's our heritage.
