When I Wanted...

To become a service technician I was female, too young and lacked experience
When I became a service technician the job wasn’t there long enough.
So I had to move on and took a part-time job in greeting cards
When I became a part-time merchandiser, the pay sucked, and I got laid off

To become a full-time merchandiser there were no full-time jobs
So, I had to move on and took a full-time job as a driver
When I became a full-time driver, I got hurt
So, I had to move on to working in the warehouse

To become a counter salesperson, I lacked experience and training
When I became a wholesale counter salesperson the business declined
So, I had to move on and took another job in retail counter sales
When I became a retail counter salesperson, I learned I hate retail customers
So, I had to move on and decided to go to college

To go to college I didn’t have direction, I lacked education and training
When I graduated, I thought doors would open but I didn’t have experience
So, I had to move on for more education and training while working part-time
When I worked in merchandising again with good pay it had few hours and I got hurt
So, I have to move on to for more education and training.

To become a Technical Writer, I didn’t have enough training or skills
When I had Technical Writing training, I lacked Digital Media skills
So, I had to move on for more education and training
To find a job in Technical Writing I didn’t have Digital Media skills
Now I have Digital Media skills, but I lack IT skills
So, I had to move on for more education and training

What I have learned, we can want but may never get despite how hard you try
Which makes me wonder is it wrong to want?
