Why?

My wife sits in her favorite spot on the couch
Her fleece blanket bearing butterflies covering her
I sit in the high-backed chair in the corner
Our old dog lays on the couch beside her
He raises his head and looks at me with tired eyes
Unimpressed, he lays his head down again
We used to talk for hours about everything and nothing
She does not talk to me anymore
Our boys lay sleeping there in their bunk beds
Snuggled up under their superhero sheets
I tell them I love them both and they scream
My wife charges into the room to comfort them
Though I am standing right there, I am ignored
They no longer like it when I talk to them
I stand against a wall in the church lobby
A lone and lonely man among the sea of people
I see so many faces that I recognize
There is Ms. Rhodes, I thought she had passed
And old Mr. Jenkins is here too
But I remember going to his funeral months ago
No one at church talks to me anymore
I’m so lonely. Why did I have to die?

This Poems Story

I was just wondering what love would look like from the perspective of a ghost.
